Frequently asked cleaning questions
What is laser cleaning?
Laser cleaning is a modern, non-contact cleaning method that uses a focused laser beam to remove rust, paint, grease, oxidation, and other surface contaminants without damaging the base material.
What materials can be laser cleaned?
Laser cleaning is commonly used on metals (steel, aluminium, copper, brass), masonry (stone, brick, concrete), wood, glass, plastics, and rubber.
Can laser cleaning remove rust?
Yes, laser cleaning is highly effective for removing rust from metal surfaces. It can clean detailed, uneven, or hard-to-reach areas with minimal surface wear.
Can laser cleaning remove paint?
Yes, laser cleaning can remove paint, coatings, and surface layers from various surfaces. The process can often be adjusted depending on how much material needs to be removed.
Is laser cleaning safe for the surface underneath?
In most cases, yes. Laser cleaning is designed to remove unwanted surface material while preserving the base surface. However, we always assess the item first to confirm the best approach.
How long does laser cleaning take?
The time required depends on the size of the item, the type of contamination, the surface condition, and the level of cleaning required. We can provide an estimate after reviewing the job.
Is laser cleaning better than sandblasting?
Laser cleaning is cleaner, more precise, and does not require abrasives or chemicals. It is especially useful for delicate parts, detailed areas, and jobs where reducing mess is important.
Do you offer mobile laser cleaning?
Yes, laser cleaning can be carried out on-site.
Do I need to prepare the item before laser cleaning?
In most cases, very little preparation is needed. However, the item should be accessible, and any loose parts or sensitive surrounding materials may need to be removed or protected.
What types of items can be laser cleaned?
Laser cleaning is a highly versatile, non-contact process used to remove rust, paint, grease, and other contaminants from a wide variety of surfaces without damaging the underlying material.

Will engraving look the same on every material?
No, engraving results can vary depending on the material, colour, coating, grain, and finish. We can advise what finish to expect before starting.
